Frequently asked questions
What people ask before they register. If something is missing here, call us on 03-303-8115.
Are the classes taught in English?
At this stage our classes are taught in Hebrew only. The chefs answer questions in English, and you can get the recipes at the class in English — and also in French, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Arabic.
Where is the studio?
19 Ben Avigdor St., Tel Aviv — close to the Azrieli Center, the Sarona compound and Yehudit Boulevard.
How do I get there? Is there parking?
The easiest way is by train (HaShalom station) or by light rail (Yehudit station). Dozens of bus lines also reach us via HaMasger St. and Menachem Begin Rd. If you come by car: at certain hours, especially in the evening and on Fridays, there is free or "blue and white" street parking on our street and on the streets nearby. When street parking is full, we have a subsidised arrangement with the car park at 19 Beit Hillel St.
Do I need any cooking experience?
No. You don't need significant knowledge or experience, and most of the classes are meant precisely for people who are not expert cooks. Every step is demonstrated before you do it, and even with two left hands you will manage to prepare the dishes.
Do we really cook, or do we watch the chef?
You cook. Every participant has a fully equipped workstation with professional-kitchen equipment, and the chef demonstrates before each step. At the end you sit down to eat what you made.
How much does a class cost?
₪390–440 per person in the classes that are open to the public, depending on the type of class, the ingredients and the chef. The price in the schedule is final, and includes the meal and the alcohol.
What does the price include?
Everything: the ingredients, an equipped workstation, the chef's guidance, a full meal of everything you made, the recipes to take home, and unlimited soft drinks, hot drinks, wine and beer. There are no extras at the end of the evening.
Is there a discount for a group?
Yes, and it is applied automatically when you register: 5% for two, 6% for three, and 8% for four participants or more.
How long is a class?
About three hours. Some of the baking and pastry classes are longer, about four hours. The exact time appears next to every date in the schedule.
How many people take part in a class?
Up to 14–18 in a class that is open to the public, depending on the room. The number is limited on purpose, so that every participant has a workstation of their own and personal attention from the chef. A private event can host up to 250 participants.
Are the classes kosher?
Yes, under the supervision of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa Rabbinate, with a kashrut supervisor on site and complete separation between the meat and the dairy utensils. There are also solutions for participants who keep a stricter level of kashrut.
Vegetarians, vegans and allergies?
Every class is marked as meat, dairy or pareve. Some of the classes are entirely vegetarian, and vegan needs or an allergy can be arranged in advance — please mention it in the notes when you register.
Can children join?
Registration for the classes is from the age of 15. In some classes, with prior approval, younger participants can be registered if they come together with an adult. It is important to arrange this before registering.
Can I cancel or change the date?
A class open to the public: up to 72 hours before the class, by phone or in writing, at no cost. You can choose between a refund, moving to another class, subject to availability, or converting the booking into a gift card. With less than 72 hours to go there is a reduced cancellation fee of ₪100 per participant. A gift card can be cancelled within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, as long as it has not been used to book a class. For a private event, the cancellation terms are set out in the order form.
Is the place accessible?
The studio itself is wheelchair accessible, and most of our cooking rooms are on the ground floor. Note that our stoves are at the height of a home kitchen counter, which suits most wheelchairs.
Can I book a private event?
Yes — it is most of what we do. A private event starts at ₪300 + VAT per participant and suits anything from a couple to 250 people: a company team day, a client evening, a bachelorette party, a birthday or a couple's class. You choose the cuisine, and you can also choose particular dishes.
How long is a gift card valid?
Five years from the date of purchase. The gift card does not show a price or payment details, and it can be used for any class in the schedule.
